Job-related accident claims life of North Carolina man

Going into work shouldn't be something that can cause injury or death, especially not with all the safety regulations that are in effect. Unfortunately, when safety regulations aren't followed or when workplace accidents occur, worker injury or death can occur. North Carolina residents might be interested in learning about a workplace accident that claimed the life of a Randleman man.

The 61-year-old man was called in to work on his day off. During the shift at Deep River Dyeing Company, the man had an accident and was killed. The accident occurred at around 2 p.m. on a Friday when the man was loading an extractor. The machine spins water out of the fabrics. In the process of loading the machine while it was running, he either slipped and fell into the extractor or got tangled up in the clothing and was pulled into the machine.

By the time officers got to the factory, the man had already passed away. His family members think it was a preventable workplace accident and want answers. They hope the company will evaluate the safety procedures.

The accident is being investigated by the North Carolina Department of Labor's Occupational Safety & Health Division.

If you have been injured in a job-related accident or have a family member who was killed in one, you might be able to receive compensation. Working with an experienced North Carolina Workers' Compensation attorney can help you to understand your rights in regard to the incident. You can also learn about the types of compensation and the process for trying to get the compensation.
